The 'Runic Stone' which may or may not be evidence of Viking visitation to the coast of Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia in about 1000.
The Runic Stone was found by Dr. Fletcher in Yarmouth in 1821. The carvings may be Norse runes with the possible meaning of 'Lief to Eric raises this monument' (that is Leif Erickson raised this stone as a monument to his father Eric the Red).
